Green Screen or Chroma Key is the technique of shooting an image or video with Green colour / Blue color as the backdrop and removing it later by replacing any kind of image from a video or a picture itself behind. It is very simple yet a beautiful technique to apply. All you need is a green or blue backdrop based picture, few images and a proper tool to make the photograph look appealing with a different background.
Pre – requisites for Green Screen Services
- There has to be a solid green or blue colour screen definitely behind the photo.
- The colour has to be uniform throughout the screen be it a simple piece of inexpensive cloth
- There should be no dirt, wrinkles or discoloration as it might result in a blotchy, clogged , floating image or video after conversion
- Deciding the colour of the screen is appropriate. There is no mandate rule that the colour has to be only Blue or Only Green. It can be decided like
i. If the screen is Blue, the subject should have very less blue colour or if the person has Blue eyes, it is better go for a green screen colour and vice versa
ii. Likewise, It is better to use a Screen colour based on the background one uses for animation. If you are going to use a hill or a mountain, it is better to go for Green Screen colour or if you are going to go for an Ocean as background, it is better to use a Blue colour.
- The lighting of the background is very important. It should not be too brightly lit or too dull lit. If it is too brightly lit, then the reflection may likely produce some circles in the final video clip.
- Also , care is to be taken that the subject is not too close to the background as it may cast a shadow which can fall on the screen.
- It has to be ensured that there or no hairs of any hanging objects outside the person in order to get a clear outline of the image which is to be superimposed
